He adhered to the Jewish tradition and religion, and His teachings were considered innovative by the scholars of His time. These teachings were initially referred to as “the Way,” and the symbol associated with it was a fish image, not a cross. It is important to note that His Jewish identity was based on His religious and traditional beliefs, rather than solely on His ethnicity or country of origin.
